Nurse Educator / Nurse Specialist, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Auckland Felix Mariano is a Nurse Educator and Nurse Specialist with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Auckland, bringing over 25 years of experience in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He completed his Master of Nursing degree in 2013 and has dedicated his career to advancing excellence in the care of patients undergoing complex head and neck surgery.
Felix has extensive clinical expertise in head and neck wound management, microvascular free flap monitoring and management, tracheostomy care, and the postoperative management of patients with complex surgical needs. He is also a core member of the Auckland District Wound Governance Group and the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based wound and tracheostomy care practices across the organisation. Passionate about education and quality improvement, Felix has played a key role in developing and delivering education programmes for nurses and multidisciplinary teams, helping translate evidence into practical, patient-centred care. His interests include improving clinical outcomes through innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous professional development. At this conference, Felix will present Head and Neck Wound Management, sharing practical strategies, evidence-based approaches, and clinical insights to optimise wound healing and improve outcomes for patients undergoing head and neck surgery. |
